Day 6 mission update

We thought we left early enough to make it to sunset on the south rim of the grand canyon. Unfortunately, with pit stops and traffic on the entry road, we decided to scratch it and just check into our hotel so we could have a nice dinner and cake/ice cream for the birthday boy instead.

The drive here was nothing short of spectacular though, Greg was particularly enthralled with the drive through New Mexico.

Driving into Flagstaff

Birthday boy

Happy 4th birthday to our sweet troublemaker. Sorry we are on the road and don’t have balloons, presents, cake or friends to play. But mommy and daddy love you so much and will do our best to put together a proper celebration in our new home.

Day 5 drive

We are pushing for Amarillo tonight. It’s a long drive from Nashville. Almost through Arkansas already though. Sunny skies now. We’re on a mission. No picture for the blog, there’s nothing to look at.

Day 4 style

Sometimes you need to sacrifice style for comfort. Greg usually refuses to leave the house in sweatpants, but has conceded that driving in jeans for hours isn’t the most comfortable idea.

Day 5

Happy New Year! Not sure where we are headed today. Went to bed at 9pm on NYE and got up at 5am. We are going to start driving and see how far we get before going crazy. Wish us luck.

Day 4 the smokies

I got to drive through the smoky mountains today and it was indescribable. Pictures don’t do it justice. It’s so amazing to be enveloped by mountains like that. We even went through a short tunnel through a mountain! Pretty insane. I think Des slept through the whole thing though.

We made it to Nashville for the night, easily clearing the storm by taking our trek west. We haven’t decided on tomorrow’s stop just yet, but Greg has big plans for a long distance. Stay tuned!

Day 3/4

Arrived pretty late to my sister’s because of intense traffic through D.C. Decided to rest and eat breakfast before heading out since we were (are still?!) exhausted. It’s still raining too. Should be a fun drive through the mountains today.

Love you sissy, thank you and Ryan for having us. xoxo
